Redcloud and Sunshine Moonlight Hike
A few photos of the hike up to Redcloud Peak and Sunshine Peak during a Super Moon.
The first photos were taken while exploring around the area. The adventure started at 12:30 am. There is not too many photos during the hike up because it was ummmm, dark.
I made the summit a bit after 4 am. I actually took my time because it was warmer to walk slow, than hurry up and wait. In retrospect, I should have slept in until 1:30 am. :-)
Being all alone on top of 14ner in the middle of the night bathed by moonlight is something I will not forget. I took several videos documenting my banter which is really just an audio recording in the dark. It was very very quiet except for the constant breeze. Even the Pika, Marmots and birds were a sleep.
It was a bit chilly at the top just waiting around. Was trying to do jumping jacks to stay worm.
After I took a zillion photos from Redcloud, I went over to Sunshine peak. That is where I took a photo of the Pika.
After summitting Sunshine, most people will return via Redcloud. I decided to do a different route off the Northwest Ridge. Mistake! The scree was steep, loose and sucked. Rocks were falling around me. The boulder field was not fun either. But I made it without any bumps or bruises. The only thing I ripped the seat of my pants.
When I finally made out of the boulder field and follow an old miner's trail, I was awarded amazing wildflower fields. You know the ones that Colorado is famous for!
All in all, I am very happy with trip itself and the "evidence" shown here.
